Ezekiel 2 – The Prophet’s Calling and God’s Empowering Word
“Son of man, stand on your feet, and I will speak to you.” (Ezekiel 2:1, NKJV)
“You shall speak My words to them, whether they hear or whether they refuse…” (v. 7)
🔍 CAPTURE THE SCENE (What do I see?)
- Ezekiel is still face down from the overwhelming vision of God’s glory
- God calls him “son of man” — a title used over 90 times in this book
- The Spirit enters him and lifts him up
- God commissions him to speak to a rebellious nation
- Ezekiel is warned — the people may reject him, but he must still speak
📖 ANALYZE THE MESSAGE (What does it mean?)
1. God Speaks to the Humbled (v. 1)
“Stand on your feet…”
Ezekiel had fallen in awe — now God raises him to listen
God speaks to the humbled, not the proud
2. The Spirit Empowers the Servant (v. 2)
“Then the Spirit entered me…”
God doesn’t just give a message — He gives power to proclaim it
This is a picture of Spirit-filled ministry
3. The Mission is to a Rebellious People (vv. 3–5)
“I am sending you to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation…”
God’s people had become defiant, resisting both prophet and Lord
“…whether they hear or whether they refuse…”
Faithfulness is not measured by results, but by obedience
4. Don’t Fear Their Rejection (vv. 6–7)
“Do not be afraid… though briers and thorns are with you…”
The path of obedience may be painful and resisted
“You shall speak My words to them…”
Ezekiel is not to soften the message — he is a mouthpiece for God
5. Eat the Scroll (v. 8–10)
“Open your mouth and eat what I give you…”
Ezekiel is told to digest God’s Word before delivering it
The scroll is filled with “lamentations and mourning and woe” — a sobering assignment

🙌 EXECUTE (So what? How does this affect my life?)
Principle: God calls us to speak His truth, empowered by His Spirit — regardless of the response.
- Let God Lift You Up
He meets you in humility and empowers you with His Word and Spirit - Obey Even When It’s Hard
Rejection is likely — but faithfulness is the goal - Digest the Word Before You Deliver It
Let God’s truth shape you first, then speak it boldly - Don’t Compromise the Message
Speak what God says — even if it’s unpopular - Courage Comes from Calling
When God sends you, He also goes with you
