Book One · The Memoir

The Apology
You Owe

A memoir of Stage One — for the man whose hiding is about to stop, or just has.

The Apology You Owe

The story of the moment hiding stopped — and the apology that mattered most.

What it is

The Apology You Owe is a memoir of Stage One. Sixteen short chapters about the night the truth came out, the hours that followed, the apology that landed where every other one had failed, and the first thirty days of a different life.

It is not a recovery how-to. It is the testimony of one man’s walk through the door — arrest, exposure, the slow work of telling the truth all the way down, and what happens on the other side.

The book ends with an appendix called Stage One: Walking Through Exposure — five steps for the first thirty days, drawn from the rest of the book.

Who it is for

If your hiding has just stopped — or you can feel it about to — this is the book to read first. It is also the book to give to a man whose hiding has just collapsed: not as a fix, but as the testimony of someone who walked through the same door.

What’s inside

Sixteen chapters across the night of, the next morning, the first phone calls, the apology to Cindy, the move from arrest to treatment, and the early days of Re:Generation. A foreword from Kacey Cain. An appendix with a five-step structure for the first thirty days.
