Revelation 22 – The River of Life and the Final Invitation
“And the Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let him who hears say, ‘Come!’” (Revelation 22:17)
🔍 CAPTURE THE SCENE (What do I see?)
The final chapter of the Bible brings everything full circle. Just as paradise was lost in Genesis 3, now paradise is restored. The River of Life, the Tree of Life, and face-to-face fellowship with God are now eternally ours.
- John sees the River of Life flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb.
- On either side of the river is the Tree of Life, bearing 12 fruits, one for each month, and its leaves bring healing to the nations.
- There will be no more curse—only the throne of God and perfect worship.
- God’s servants will see His face and reign with Him forever.
- Jesus affirms: “Behold, I am coming quickly!”
- The angel reminds John: “Do not seal this book”—its message is urgent.
- A series of final exhortations follow:
- Keep the words of the prophecy.
- Worship God alone.
- Let the righteous continue in righteousness.
- Let the wicked know judgment is coming.
- Jesus repeats: “I am the Alpha and Omega… Blessed are those who do His commandments.”
- The final invitation: “Let the one who is thirsty come… freely take the water of life.”
- A warning is given not to add to or take away from the words of the prophecy.
- The Bible ends with a final promise: “Surely I am coming quickly.”
And a final prayer: “Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!”
📖 ANALYZE THE MESSAGE (What does it mean?)
- The River and Tree of Life (vv. 1–2)
Eternal life flows directly from God’s throne. The Tree of Life, once guarded in Eden (Genesis 3), is now accessible and abundant—symbolizing unending healing, unity, and peace. - No More Curse, Face-to-Face Worship (vv. 3–5)
The curse of sin is gone forever. God’s people will serve Him, reign with Him, and see His face—the ultimate blessing of redemption. - Threefold Declaration: “I Am Coming Quickly” (vv. 7, 12, 20)
Jesus repeats this phrase three times. Amir emphasizes this is not about soonness in time but suddenness in execution. When He comes, it will be swift. - Final Warnings and Encouragement (vv. 10–19)
- Don’t seal this book—the time is near.
- Let the righteous stay righteous, and the wicked know they’re accountable.
- Don’t tamper with Scripture—God’s Word is complete and sacred.
- The Final Invitation (v. 17)
A beautiful, open call from the Spirit, the Church (bride), and every believer to the thirsty. Salvation is a free gift, available to all who want it.

- River and Tree of Life:
- Genesis 2:9, 10 – The Tree of Life and a river flowed from Eden
- Ezekiel 47:1–12 – A river from the temple brings healing and life
- Face-to-Face Fellowship:
- Exodus 33:20 – No one could see God’s face and live
- 1 Corinthians 13:12 – “Now we see in a mirror… then face to face”
- Jesus Is Coming Quickly:
- Matthew 24:27 – His return will be like lightning

Principle: The Bible ends with a promise and an invitation—Jesus is coming, and the door to eternal life is still open.
- Live in Expectation
Jesus is coming suddenly. Be ready. Keep your heart pure, your hands busy in His work, and your eyes lifted toward eternity. - Drink Deeply from the Living Water
Salvation is not just a one-time decision. Abide in Jesus daily. The invitation to drink remains open—so come often. - Share the Invitation Freely
The Gospel is good news, and the invitation is open to “whoever wills.” Be bold in offering the water of life to a thirsty world.
