John 21 – Do You Love Me? Follow Me.

“Jesus said to him, ‘Feed My sheep.’” (John 21:17, NKJV)
🔍 CAPTURE THE SCENE (What do I see?)
After the resurrection, Jesus appears again—this time on the shores of Galilee. Seven disciples go fishing. They catch nothing until Jesus shows up and performs a miracle. What follows is one of the most intimate and powerful scenes in the Bible.
- Peter, Thomas, Nathanael, James and John, and two others go fishing.
- They fish all night and catch nothing.
- At dawn, Jesus stands on the shore, but they don’t recognize Him.
- He says, “Cast the net on the right side.” They do—and catch 153 large fish.
- John says, “It is the Lord!” Peter jumps into the sea to reach Him.
- They find breakfast already prepared—fish and bread.
- Jesus invites them: “Come and eat breakfast.”
- No one dares ask who He is—they know it’s Him.
- Jesus takes bread and fish and gives it to them—a reminder of past miracles.
- After breakfast, Jesus restores Peter with three questions:“Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?”
- Peter affirms his love each time, and Jesus replies:“Feed My lambs. Tend My sheep. Feed My sheep.”
- Jesus tells Peter about the kind of death he will die—and then says,“Follow Me.”
- Peter asks about John. Jesus replies:“If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you? You follow Me.”
- John ends the Gospel by reminding us that Jesus did many more things, but this book was written so we might believe.
