Ephesians 4 – Walk Worthy of Your Calling
“Walk worthy of the calling with which you were called…” (Ephesians 4:1, NKJV)
“Put off… the old man… and be renewed… put on the new man…” (Ephesians 4:22–24, NKJV)

Paul shifts from deep theology (chapters 1–3) to practical instruction:
- Urging believers to live out their calling.
- Calling the church to unity and maturity.
- Explaining how spiritual gifts build up the body.
- Describing the difference between the old life and the new.
- Giving real, applicable commands: speak truth, manage anger, work honestly, speak with grace, forgive one another.
📖 ANALYZE THE MESSAGE (What does it mean?)
1. Walk in Unity (vv. 1–6)
Paul urges us to walk in humility, gentleness, patience, and love—guarding unity through the Spirit.
There is one body, one Spirit, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God.
2. Grow in Maturity (vv. 7–16)
Christ gave spiritual gifts (apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers) to build the Church up.
The goal? That we would grow into maturity, no longer swayed by lies, but speaking the truth in love and becoming more like Christ, our Head.
3. Put Off the Old Self, Put On the New (vv. 17–24)
Don’t walk like the world—darkened in understanding, alienated from God.
Be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new man, created to be righteous and holy.
4. Live a Changed Life (vv. 25–32)
Paul gives clear, Spirit-led instructions:
- Speak truth, not lies
- Be angry, but don’t sin
- Don’t give the devil a foothold
- Work honestly, give generously
- Let your words build up, not tear down
- Don’t grieve the Holy Spirit
- Forgive, just as God forgave you in Christ

- Fight for Unity, Not Superiority
You’re not better than the believer next to you—you’re one body. Serve with humility and grace. - Use Your Gifts to Grow Others
Your gifts aren’t about you—they’re tools to build the body and help others mature. - Stop Justifying Sin
The old self is dead. Stop trying to resurrect it. Put on the new life daily through renewal in the Word. - Be Quick to Forgive
No matter the offense, remember: Christ forgave you. Walk in that same mercy.
