Matthew 25 – Be Ready, Be Faithful, Be Set Apart
“Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.” (Matthew 25:13, NKJV)
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” (v. 21)
“Inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these… you did it to Me.” (v. 40)
🔍 CAPTURE THE SCENE (What Do I See?)
Jesus gives three parables in this chapter, all pointing to His Second Coming and the judgment to follow:
- The Parable of the Ten Virgins – five were wise and prepared; five were foolish and unready.
- The Parable of the Talents – each servant is judged based on what they did with what they were given.
- The Judgment of the Nations – Jesus returns and separates the sheep from the goats, based on how they treated “the least of these.”
📖 ANALYZE THE MESSAGE (What Does It Mean?)
1. The Ten Virgins – Be Spiritually Ready (vv. 1–13)
- Ten bridesmaids wait for the bridegroom.
- Five bring extra oil (wise); five do not (foolish).
- At midnight the bridegroom comes, and only the wise are ready.
- The door is shut on the unprepared.
Lesson: Don’t just look like a Christian—be filled with the Holy Spirit and stay alert.
2. The Talents – Be Faithful with What You’ve Been Given (vv. 14–30)
- A master gives 5, 2, and 1 talent to three servants.
- Two invest and multiply what they were given.
- One hides it out of fear.
- The master returns and rewards the faithful—but casts out the unfaithful.
Lesson: God expects a return on what He entrusted to you. Use your gifts for the kingdom.
3. The Sheep and the Goats – Be Compassionate Toward God’s People (vv. 31–46)
- Jesus sits on His throne and separates nations like a shepherd divides sheep and goats.
- The sheep: they fed, clothed, visited, and helped “the least of these.”
- The goats: they ignored or rejected them.
- The sheep inherit eternal life; the goats are sent into everlasting fire.
Lesson: True faith is shown by how you treat others, especially God’s people during hard times.
🔄 COMPARE WITH THE REST OF SCRIPTURE
- Luke 12:35–40 – Be dressed and ready for service.
- 2 Corinthians 5:10 – We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ.
- Ephesians 5:18 – Be filled with the Spirit (symbolized by oil).
- James 2:17 – Faith without works is dead.
- Revelation 20:11–15 – The Great White Throne Judgment.

Key Principle: Jesus is coming back. Be wise, faithful, and ready—for the King will separate the real from the religious.
- Be Spiritually Prepared
- Stay filled with the Holy Spirit. Don’t run on yesterday’s oil.
- Invest Your Life Well
- God gave you talents—time, gifts, resources. Use them for His glory.
- Live Out Your Faith in Action
- Serve others. The way you treat people reflects your heart for Christ.
- Anticipate Accountability
- Jesus is both Savior and Judge. How you live matters eternally.
