SOAP: John 2:23–25

S — Scripture

John 2:23–25
Jesus knows what is in man.

John 2:23-25

Jesus Knows What Is in Man

[23] Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many believed in his name when they saw the signs that he was doing. [24] But Jesus on his part did not entrust himself to them, because he knew all people [25] and needed no one to bear witness about man, for he himself knew what was in man.

O — Observation

  • Many people believed because of signs and miracles.
  • Jesus did not entrust Himself to them.
  • Their belief was shallow—based on what He did, not who He is.
  • Jesus knows every heart fully; He needs no external testimony.
  • This reveals His divine omniscience and discernment.

A — Application

  • Jesus knows my heart, motives, and hidden thoughts completely.
  • I don’t need to perform or pretend before Him.
  • I should examine whether my faith is rooted in trust or just outcomes.
  • True discipleship requires surrender, not surface-level belief.

P — Prayer

Father God,
Help me live honestly before You, knowing You see my heart fully.
Strengthen my faith so it rests on who You are, not just what You do.
Teach me to surrender my thoughts, motives, and plans to You each day.
Amen.
