Isaiah 45 – God Rules Over All: Cyrus, Creation, and Salvation
“I am the Lord, and there is no other; there is no God besides Me.” (Isaiah 45:5, NKJV)
“Look to Me, and be saved, all you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.” (v. 22)
🔍 CAPTURE THE SCENE (What Do I See?)
- God calls Cyrus by name, though he doesn’t yet know God.
- God declares His total sovereignty: “I form light and create darkness…”
- He commands the heavens to pour down righteousness.
- Warns those who argue with the Creator.
- Promises salvation to all nations, not just Israel.
- Declares that every knee will bow to Him.
📖 ANALYZE THE MESSAGE (What Does It Mean?)
1. Cyrus, God’s Anointed (vv. 1–7)
- God calls Cyrus His anointed (messiah-type), chosen to subdue nations.
- God promises to open doors and give him hidden treasures.
- Though Cyrus doesn’t know Him, God will use him for Israel’s sake.
- “I form the light and create darkness, I make peace and create calamity.”
- God takes full credit for all things—His rule is absolute.
2. Creation and Sovereignty (vv. 8–13)
- Heaven and earth are commanded to respond to God’s righteousness.
- Woe to anyone who questions or resists the Creator.
- God reminds us: He made the earth, people, and directs history.
- He raised Cyrus to rebuild the temple, not for payment but by divine command.
3. God’s Global Plan (vv. 14–17)
- Foreign nations will acknowledge: “Surely God is in you” (speaking of Israel).
- God is called a “God who hides Himself”—mysterious but real.
- Israel will be saved with everlasting salvation, never to be ashamed.
4. God’s Invitation to the World (vv. 18–21)
- God did not create the world in vain—He formed it to be inhabited and redeemed.
- “I did not speak in secret…” – God’s truth is public and knowable.
- “There is no other God besides Me, a just God and a Savior.”
5. Universal Acknowledgment (vv. 22–25)
- “Look to Me and be saved, all you ends of the earth!”
- Every knee will bow, every tongue confess—echoed in Philippians 2:10–11.
- God’s people will glory in Him; the rebellious will be ashamed.

- Even secular rulers and chaotic times are under God’s hand.

- Don’t question how God works—submit to His higher wisdom.
- Faith means bowing the knee now, not later.

- Salvation is not hidden—“Look to Me” is a global invitation.
- Share the gospel boldly—it’s God’s command to all nations.
- Respond with Worship, Not Shame
- Bow willingly today—don’t be part of the ashamed tomorrow.
- The saved rejoice; the rebels regret.
- Live as a Witness
- People should say of you, “God is surely in this person.”
- Let your life reflect God’s justice and salvation.
