Isaiah 35 – The Highway of Holiness and the Joy of the Redeemed
“And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion with singing… everlasting joy shall be upon their heads.” (Isaiah 35:10, NKJV)
“Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.” (v. 5)
🔍 CAPTURE THE SCENE (What Do I See?)
- The wilderness blossoms and bursts into beauty and song.
- Weak hands and fearful hearts are encouraged with hope.
- God comes with vengeance and salvation.
- The blind see, the lame leap, and the mute sing.
- A Highway of Holiness appears—safe, clean, and reserved for the redeemed.
- The chapter closes with the joyful return to Zion—a picture of the redeemed in glory.
📖 ANALYZE THE MESSAGE (What Does It Mean?)
1. Creation Rejoices (vv. 1–2)
- The desert will rejoice and blossom like the rose—a metaphor for spiritual and physical renewal.
- God’s glory will be seen, even in the most barren places.
- Lebanon, Carmel, and Sharon—once fruitful regions—symbolize beauty restored.
2. Strength for the Weak (vv. 3–4)
- God tells His people to strengthen weak hands and knees.
- Fear not! God is coming with vengeance against enemies and salvation for His people.
- A message of hope for the weary and fearful in days of trial.
3. Miracles and Healing (vv. 5–6a)
- Messianic signs: the blind see, the deaf hear, the lame leap, the mute sing.
- Jesus fulfilled this in part during His first coming (Matthew 11:4–5) and will fully complete it in the Kingdom.
4. Creation Transformed (vv. 6b–7)
- Waters break out in the wilderness—spiritual and physical life restored.
- Dry places become pools. The desert becomes fertile.
- God brings abundance where there was once desolation.
5. The Highway of Holiness (vv. 8–9)
- A literal and spiritual path of redemption—only for the redeemed and clean.
- No lions or dangers—only safety and joy.
- The unclean will not walk there—God preserves His people in purity.
6. Joyful Return to Zion (v. 10)
- The ransomed of the Lord—those saved by God—will return with singing.
- Everlasting joy will crown their heads.
- Sorrow and sighing will flee away forever.

- His vengeance is against your enemies—not you.

- Are you walking the Highway of Holiness?
- Holiness is not about perfection, but direction—toward the King.
- Rejoice in the Coming Kingdom
- Everlasting joy is coming. Let it begin now.
- No more sorrow, no more sighing—Jesus is preparing this for you.
- Invite Others to the Highway
- Don’t walk it alone—lead others to the King.
