Ezekiel 13 – Woe to the False Prophets

“Because you have spoken nonsense and envisioned lies, therefore I am indeed against you, says the Lord God.” (Ezekiel 13:8, NKJV)

🔍 CAPTURE THE SCENE (What Do I See?)

God gives Ezekiel a clear and fiery message: call out the false prophets and deceptive prophetesses:

These so-called prophets speak lies in God’s name though He has not sent them.
They give people false hope, claiming peace when destruction is coming.
God compares their words to a wall covered with whitewash—it looks secure but will collapse in the storm.
Then, God condemns women who practice occultism, ensnaring souls with lies, rituals, and magical charms.
The result: God’s name is profaned, the righteous are grieved, and the wicked are encouraged.

False Prophets Build Illusions (vv. 1–7)
- These prophets follow their own spirit, not the Lord’s.
- They invent comforting visions to keep people comfortable in sin.
- They are spiritual deceivers, not messengers of truth.
God’s Judgment on Spiritual Lies (vv. 8–16)
- The “whitewashed wall” symbolizes their false assurance.
- God says: The storm will expose it. Their lies will crumble, and their names will be erased.
- False peace is worse than bad news—it’s lethal.
Condemnation of the Occult and False Prophetesses (vv. 17–23)
- Women are shown practicing soul ensnarement, divination, and deceit “for handfuls of barley and scraps of bread.”
- They distort justice: condemning the innocent, sparing the wicked.
- God promises to tear off their charms, deliver the people, and vindicate His holy name.

False Prophets Condemned:
- Jeremiah 23:16 – “Do not listen to the words of the prophets… they speak a vision of their own heart.”
- Matthew 7:15 – “Beware of false prophets… they come in sheep’s clothing.”
Whitewashed Walls:
- Matthew 23:27 – Jesus calls Pharisees “whitewashed tombs… full of hypocrisy.”
- Acts 23:3 – Paul rebukes the high priest as a “whitewashed wall.”
Judgment on Occult Practices:
- Deuteronomy 18:10–12 – God detests witchcraft, divination, and spiritism.
- Galatians 5:20 – Sorcery is listed among the works of the flesh.
God Will Rescue His People:
- Isaiah 49:24–25 – “I will contend with him who contends with you, and I will save your children.”
- John 10:28 – “No one will snatch them out of My hand.”

Key Principle: God hates spiritual deception—especially when it comforts sin and misrepresents His name.

Beware of Sugarcoated Lies
- Not every “positive” message is true. Don’t be fooled by peaceful-sounding lies.
- Truth may sting, but it saves. Lies feel good—until the wall collapses.
Test Every Spirit
- Is that preacher, teacher, or influencer speaking God’s Word—or their own?
- Use Scripture as your filter, not emotion or tradition (1 John 4:1).
Reject Anything Occult or Manipulative
- Horoscope? Crystals? Enchantments? “Christian” witchcraft? Run.
- God takes counterfeit spirituality seriously—and so should we.
Speak Truth, Even When It’s Not Popular
- Ezekiel had to expose false prophets. You may be called to stand alone for truth.
- Your faithfulness could be the wake-up call someone needs.
