Romans 3 – All Have Sinned… But God
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23, NKJV)
“Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 3:24, NKJV)
🔍 CAPTURE THE SCENE (What do I see?)
Paul addresses Jewish objections, then issues a sweeping verdict: Everyone—Jew and Gentile—is under sin. But then comes the most glorious news: justification is available by grace, through faith, apart from the Law.
- Paul answers objections about Jewish privilege and the faithfulness of God.
- He says the Jews’ unfaithfulness does not cancel out God’s faithfulness.
- But both Jews and Gentiles are under sin.
- Paul strings together Old Testament quotes to declare:“There is none righteous, no, not one.”
- The Law reveals sin—but cannot save.
- Then comes the turning point:“But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed.”
- Righteousness is through faith in Jesus Christ, for all who believe.
- All have sinned—but all can be justified freely by grace through Jesus.
- God put Jesus forward as a propitiation (atoning sacrifice) through His blood.
- This demonstrates God’s righteousness and justice—He is both just and the justifier.
- There is no boasting, because salvation is by faith, not works.
- God is the God of both Jews and Gentiles—justifies both the circumcised and uncircumcised by the same faith.
- The Law is not made void by faith—it is established.
📖 ANALYZE THE MESSAGE (What does it mean?)
- Everyone Is Guilty (vv. 9–20)
Paul builds an airtight case: no one is righteous. The Law silences all boasting. The whole world is accountable to God. - God’s Righteousness Is Revealed (vv. 21–22)
“But now…”—two of the most powerful words in Scripture. A new way has come: righteousness apart from the Law, through faith in Jesus. - Justified Freely by Grace (v. 24)
We are made right with God not by earning, but by grace, because of what Jesus did. - Propitiation by His Blood (v. 25)
Jesus took the wrath of God upon Himself. He satisfied justice so that mercy could be offered to us. - No Boasting—Only Faith (vv. 27–31)
If salvation is by faith, there’s no room for pride. God saves anyone who believes—Jew or Gentile.

🙌 EXECUTE (So what? How does this affect my life?)
Principle: You can’t earn salvation—but you can receive it. Jesus paid the price, and God is both holy and merciful.
- Acknowledge Your Guilt
You’re not the exception. No one is righteous on their own. Recognize your need for a Savior. - Stop Trying to Earn God’s Favor
You can’t work your way into heaven. Rest in the finished work of Jesus on the cross. - Boast in Christ, Not in Yourself
Let the gospel humble you. All glory belongs to Jesus, not your performance. - Trust the Blood That Speaks Mercy
Jesus’ blood satisfied the wrath of God. That means you don’t have to fear condemnation. - Share the Gospel With Everyone
The ground at the foot of the cross is level. The same righteousness is available to all who believe.
