Revelation 15 – The Preparation for the Seven Bowls of Wrath
“Great and marvelous are Your works, Lord God Almighty! Just and true are Your ways, O King of the saints!” (Revelation 15:3)
🔍 CAPTURE THE SCENE (What do I see?)
Before the final wave of judgment is poured out, heaven pauses once more—not in silence, but in song and glory. Revelation 15 is the shortest chapter in the book, but it’s filled with awe, worship, and preparation.
- John sees another great and marvelous sign:
- Seven angels holding the seven last plagues, completing God’s wrath.
- A sea of glass mixed with fire is before the throne—symbolizing holiness and judgment.
- Standing on the sea are those who overcame the beast—Tribulation martyrs—holding harps of God.
- They sing the song of Moses and the song of the Lamb, celebrating God’s power, justice, and holiness.
- The temple of the tabernacle of testimony in heaven is opened.
- The seven angels come out, dressed in pure white linen, and receive seven golden bowls filled with God’s wrath.
- The temple is filled with smoke from God’s glory and power—no one can enter until the judgments are complete.
📖 ANALYZE THE MESSAGE (What does it mean?)
- The Final Phase Begins (v. 1)
This chapter introduces the bowl judgments—the last and most intense series of judgments. These are not symbolic; they are literal plagues poured out rapidly and globally in chapter 16. - Sea of Glass Mixed with Fire (v. 2)
The glass reflects God’s holiness; the fire speaks of judgment. The victorious saints are those who refused the mark and the beast, even unto death. They stand safe and triumphant in God’s presence. - The Songs of the Redeemed (v. 3–4)
- Song of Moses: Celebrates God’s deliverance and justice (see Exodus 15 after the Red Sea).
- Song of the Lamb: Celebrates Jesus as the ultimate Redeemer and righteous Judge.
- Heavenly Temple Opens (vv. 5–8)
This is God’s heavenly sanctuary, and it becomes the launch point for wrath. The angels emerge from this holy place, spotless and commissioned. The smoke signals God’s holiness, power, and unapproachable glory during judgment. - No One Enters (v. 8)
While judgment is being executed, God’s presence is closed off—a solemn declaration that mercy has paused and wrath must be finished.

Principle: God’s justice is perfect and complete—He is worthy of worship even when He judges.
- Worship the Righteous Judge
Even in wrath, God is holy and true. Let your worship reflect the full character of God—not just His mercy, but also His justice. - Stand for Truth at Any Cost
The overcomers in this chapter paid the ultimate price but gained eternal reward. Their faithfulness reminds us to remain unshaken in times of pressure or persecution. - Take God’s Word Seriously
There comes a moment when judgment is no longer delayed. We live in a time of grace now—but it won’t last forever.
