1 Corinthians 15 – The Resurrection of Christ and Our Hope

“If Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty.” (1 Corinthians 15:14, NKJV)
“For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.” (v. 22)
“Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (v. 57)

📖 ANALYZE THE MESSAGE (What does it mean?)
1. The Gospel Foundation (vv. 1–11)
“Christ died for our sins… He was buried… He rose again the third day…”
The gospel is rooted in historical truth and fulfilled prophecy
“He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve…”
The resurrection is eyewitness-verified, not a myth
“By the grace of God I am what I am…”
Paul shares how grace transformed even him, the former persecutor
2. If There Is No Resurrection… (vv. 12–19)
“If Christ is not risen, your faith is futile…”
Without the resurrection, Christianity collapses
“We are of all men the most pitiable.”
If there’s no life after death, we’re wasting our lives
3. Christ the Firstfruits (vv. 20–28)
“Christ is risen from the dead… the firstfruits…”
Jesus is the first of many who will rise
“As in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.”
Through Jesus, the curse is reversed
“He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet.”
Christ’s total victory ends with the destruction of death
4. Resurrection and Daily Living (vv. 29–34)
“Why are they baptized for the dead… if the dead do not rise?”
Paul references a debated practice to show how hope in resurrection shapes behavior
“Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.”
Without hope, people live recklessly
“Evil company corrupts good habits.”
Doctrine affects behavior — surround yourself with truth-loving believers
5. The Resurrection Body (vv. 35–49)
“What you sow is not made alive unless it dies…”
Paul uses a seed analogy — death brings transformation
“It is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption…”
Our new bodies will be imperishable, glorious, and spiritual
“As we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man.”
We’ll be like Christ — immortal, eternal, radiant
6. Victory Over Death (vv. 50–58)
“Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom…”
Our current bodies need a spiritual upgrade
“In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye… the dead will be raised…”
This points to the rapture and final resurrection
“Death is swallowed up in victory.”
Christ has crushed the grave — we no longer fear it
“Be steadfast… always abounding in the work of the Lord…”
Because of this hope, stay faithful — your labor is not in vain
