The old strategy of distraction is seen here in the first letter by a bacon sandwich, when the atheist considers is this all this life has to offer, he leaves the british museum and is soon distracted by others things. This was a crucial point in this man’s life when he was about to reconsider his beliefs but soon we find out he never did and eventually made his way to an eternal life in darkness. I find it interesting how we are to be kept from exploring science and the concept of the real life but only ordinary things. I see how argument and reason are something that the enemy does not want us to enter into, but to just believe all the press or media puts out, I am understand and believe all this without careful consideration and reasoning, I see how today the media can affect the masses and direct hate at different groups or parties, to blame others for this wicked world. What a great distraction even today and void of a genuine love for our neighbor.
your brother,

Great insight Danny! I updated your title to reflect this post is letter #1. You are right on the money–Satan keeps people distracted with normal everyday occurrences like hunger and sleep. I would have picked a juicy ribeye steak from Saltgrass Steak House. How many times have we been distracted from seeking God? Thought it was interesting that Uncle Screwtape was troubled by argument and reason. I think academia is also troubled by allowing free debate around intelligent design and evolution. In fact, many universities will revoke a professor’s if he or she professes to believe in alternatives to evolution including intelligent design. There is no longer debate on the various topics (as depicted in the original Gods’ Not Dead movie). Instead, Christians are forced to hide their beliefs with the fear that they will be outed and blacklisted. I perceive professors use concepts of quantum physics and big bang, as distractions from intelligent design and the precision of the universe. Logic and common sense run counter to Darwin’s theory of life… big bang… it takes much more faith to believe we came chance and evolved from a single cell organism; than it we were designed with a purpose by a creator.
