Proverbs 26 on May 26

When remembering to read and tonight , I made a conscious decision to turn off the television set and read Proverbs 26 , this is where I am warned about foolishness and laziness as well as the damage that can be with my tongue. The scripture that stood out for me was: “Like a dog that returns to his vomit is a fool who repeats his folly. Do you see a man who is wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him”. – Proverbs 26:11-12

When reading this I can see how my own foolishness has led to me to make many mistakes again and again with these returning to sin even after realizing the damage it causes me and my relationship with God and others, what’s worse was the times where I decided to stay there as a dog returns to his vomit and even thinking that I was wise in my own eyes as if to say to God I know what is best and what I want is best, all the time deep down knowing I was lying to myself or just relying on a ” once saved always saved” theology to give me permission to sin away. Talk about foolishness. To humble myself and know my need for God , to rely on Him for everything down to my beating heart and the breath I breathe. I have learned that wisdom is found in humbling myself before the King who loves me enough to call me His son where I can know Him in a close relationship in that I can call out Abba or Dad in my native tongue. To not believe the lies of this world, to say no to the distractions and sit still before Him has brought me much peace.
