Most people don’t study the Bible. They read at it

They open an app. Skim a verse. Underline something that sounds nice. Close the book feeling vaguely better. Repeat tomorrow.

That’s not what God had in mind.

Scripture is not a mood ring. It is a sword, a lamp, a mirror, a hammer, a seed, and bread. It is meant to be handled — chewed, wrestled with, obeyed. And that takes a method.

The Method Has a Name

It’s called inductive Bible study. It’s simply the practice of going to the text yourself — asking honest questions, letting the passage speak on its own terms, and drawing conclusions from what’s actually there.

It moves through three steps: Observation (what does it say?), Interpretation (what does it mean?), and Application (how do I live it?). Skip one and you either miss the meaning or miss the life change.

Then there’s the tool that makes it stick — marking your Bible. Not decoration. Not desecration. Observation made visible.

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…” — Romans 12:2

The mind is not renewed by osmosis. It’s renewed by direct engagement with the Word. That’s what inductive study is for. It trains your ear to the Shepherd’s voice so that when the stranger calls, you notice.

What’s in the Free Guide

I put together an 11-page guide that walks you through the whole thing — the method, the marking system, and a seven-day plan to start. It’s free. No email required.

The Three Steps — observation, interpretation, application, broken down in plain English.

A complete color code — twelve categories covering God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, sin, love, life, promises, commands, and more.

Structural symbols & transition words — the small words most people skim over that change everything.

John 10:1–5 marked up as an example — so you can see the method in action.

A seven-day starter plan — thirty minutes a day, one passage, and you’re studying the Word like you mean it.

Recommended tools & teachers — Bibles worth owning, pens that won’t bleed, and the teachers I trust (Kay Arthur, Howard Hendricks, MacArthur, Guzik).

Why This Matters

Transformation doesn’t come from behavior management. It doesn’t come from willpower, life hacks, or one more sermon podcast on your commute. It comes from truth, exposure, and surrender — and those start with actually hearing what God said.

The sheep who know the Shepherd’s voice follow Him. The ones who don’t follow strangers. That’s the whole thing in one sentence.

If you’ve been wanting to actually study the Bible — not just read at it — this guide will give you the tools and the seven-day start.

The goal is not to get through the Bible.
The goal is to let the Bible get through you.
