Lifting My Eyes to the One

I have found that I must lift my eyes to the One. When I become overwhelmed by others or by my own endless analysis, I get lost in both the reality of what is and the imagined scenarios of what might be. These thoughts only bring worry and nervousness.

> “Be still, and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10)

In those moments, I realize I have lost the peace that comes from trusting God. True peace is found in surrender—trusting Him to guide me, to do His will, and to leave the results in His hands. I cannot control everything, much less others. So I lay it all down at the foot of the Cross.

> “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28–30)

I breathe, and with gratitude I place my faith in Him to carry both my burdens and the burdens of those I love.

When I ask for direction and quiet my heart, He speaks. My part is to listen and obey. I long and thirst for the Truth, for the True Love that grows deeper each day.

> “As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.” (Psalm 42:1–2)

To know what awaits with Him, to let go of present troubles, and to shine forth His light—that is the path. His light overcomes the darkness, first in our hearts, and then through us as we carry His light into the world.

> “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:5)

To live for Christ and die to myself—this is the call of every moment.

> “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20)
