Isaiah 62 – Zion’s Glory and the Lord’s Zeal
“You shall be called by a new name… You shall also be a crown of glory in the hand of the Lord…” (Isaiah 62:2–3, NKJV)
“I have set watchmen on your walls… You who make mention of the Lord, do not keep silent.” (v. 6)
🔍 CAPTURE THE SCENE (What Do I See?)
- The chapter opens with God’s declaration: “For Zion’s sake, I will not hold My peace…”
- God will not rest until Jerusalem shines in righteousness.
- Zion will receive a new name, and will no longer be called Forsaken or Desolate.
- She will be like a bride married to her Bridegroom—God Himself.
- Watchmen are appointed to pray and proclaim until full restoration.
- God promises blessing, security, and vindication.
- The chapter ends with a vision of Jerusalem’s final redemption—God’s people called “Sought Out” and “Not Forsaken.”
📖 ANALYZE THE MESSAGE (What Does It Mean?)
1. God’s Unceasing Zeal for Zion (vv. 1–3)
- God refuses to stay silent—He will act until Zion’s righteousness shines.
- She will receive a new name, showing restored identity and honor.
- “A crown of glory in the hand of the Lord”—Jerusalem will be God’s treasured possession.
2. Marriage Language: God’s Delight (vv. 4–5)
- No longer called Forsaken or Desolate.
- Instead: Hephzibah (“My Delight is in Her”) and Beulah (“Married”).
- God rejoices over His people as a bridegroom rejoices over a bride.
- This is intimate covenant language—God is deeply committed.
3. Watchmen Intercede for Zion (vv. 6–7)
- God appoints watchmen on Jerusalem’s walls—those who cry out day and night.
- These are intercessors who won’t stop praying until Zion is fully restored.
- A call for persistent prayer and prophetic urgency.
4. Promises of Blessing and Security (vv. 8–9)
- God swears by His strength: Israel’s enemies will no longer steal her harvest.
- Those who labor will eat and praise the Lord in safety.
- This is both a literal promise of restoration and a spiritual principle of fruitful blessing.
5. A Call to Prepare the Way (vv. 10–12)
- A rally cry: “Go through the gates! Prepare the way for the people!”
- Build a highway of holiness and return.
- The Lord declares: “Your salvation is coming… and His reward is with Him.”
- God’s people will be called “The Holy People,” “The Redeemed,” “Sought Out.”

- New Name and Restoration:
- Revelation 2:17 – “I will give him a white stone… and a new name written on it.”
- Revelation 3:12 – “I will write on him… My new name.”
- Bride Imagery:

- Watchmen and Intercession:
- Ezekiel 3:17 – “I have made you a watchman… hear My word and give them warning.”

- Prepare the Way:
- Isaiah 40:3 – “Prepare the way of the Lord…”
- John 1:23 – John the Baptist quotes this verse to point to Jesus.
- Reward Is With Him:
- Revelation 22:12 – “Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me…”

- Embrace Your New Identity
- God no longer calls you forsaken—He calls you His delight.
- You are precious, restored, and named by Him.
- Intercede for God’s People
- Be a modern-day watchman—pray for Israel, for the Church, and for the return of the King.
- Don’t grow silent in spiritual battles.
- Live Like a Bride Preparing
- We are the bride of Christ—let your life reflect that you’re preparing to meet Him.
- Pursue purity, holiness, and devotion.
- Prepare the Way for Others
- Your life can help clear the path for others to come to Jesus.
- Invite others to join the journey of redemption.
- Rejoice in the Coming Salvation
- The Redeemer is coming with power and reward.
- Keep your eyes on eternity—Zion’s full glory is near.
