Notes – Isaiah 12

Isaiah 12 – A Song of Salvation

“Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid…” (Isaiah 12:2, NKJV)
“Therefore with joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.” (v. 3)

🔍 CAPTURE THE SCENE (What Do I See?)

  • The chapter is a praise-filled response to God’s judgment and mercy.
  • Israel’s discipline is over, and worship erupts from a thankful heart.
  • There is personal and national rejoicing—Israel and the remnant rejoice in salvation.
  • The focus is on God Himself as the source of deliverance, strength, and joy.
  • This is a preview of millennial worship, when the Lord reigns from Jerusalem.

📖 ANALYZE THE MESSAGE (What Does It Mean?)

1. From Anger to Comfort (v. 1)

  • “You were angry with me, but Your anger is turned away, and You comfort me.”
  • God’s justice has been satisfied—grace and restoration follow judgment.
  • A personal and national testimony of redemption.

2. Trust, Not Fear (v. 2)

  • Echoes Exodus 15:2—“The Lord is my strength and song…”
  • “I will trust and not be afraid” – a declaration of faith over fear.
  • God is not just a Savior—He is my salvation.

3. Drawing Water from the Wells (v. 3)

  • A metaphor for the deep joy and satisfaction found in salvation.
  • “Wells of salvation” = continual access to God’s goodness.
  • Fulfilled now spiritually, and in full during the Kingdom age.

4. Make Known His Deeds (vv. 4–5)

  • Praise must become public—God’s name is to be exalted among the nations.
  • “Declare His deeds… make mention that His name is exalted.”
  • This is the evangelistic praise of a redeemed people.

5. Sing for Joy – He Dwells Among Us (v. 6)

  • “Great is the Holy One of Israel in your midst!”
  • The Immanuel theme (God with us) fulfilled in the reign of Christ.
  • Zion becomes the center of joy, justice, and worship.

🔄 COMPARE WITH THE REST OF SCRIPTURE

🛠 EXECUTE – How Does This Affect My Life?

Key Principle: God doesn’t just rescue us—He transforms our sorrow into joy and invites us to become messengers of His salvation to the world.

  1. Turn Praise into Testimony
    • Don’t keep your worship private—declare His deeds.
    • Share what God has done. Your story becomes someone else’s hope.
  2. Draw Daily from the Wells
    • God’s salvation isn’t a one-time event—it’s a living well.
    • Go to Him daily for strength, peace, and joy.
  3. Trust God in Every Circumstance
    • “I will trust and not be afraid” is more than a verse—it’s a battle cry.
    • Faith over fear. Always.
  4. Worship in His Presence
    • He is in your midst. Even before the Kingdom arrives in full, He dwells with you now.
    • Make worship a lifestyle, not just a song.
  5. Prepare for Kingdom Joy
    • This song is prophetic—it previews the global joy of Jesus’ return.
    • Practice now for the eternal celebration to come.
