The temptations from new acquaintances to fit in and living parallel lives.
I have struggled in this area and many times have gone along with the crowd. This world is full enough of temptations and if I am not being careful of the company I keep, I can become weak, in areas that were once, areas of strength. This usually comes from wanting acceptance from new friends or those who are held in high esteem. My goal should be to find complete acceptance from God and find a peace in that alone. This is said a lot easier than done. The subtle lure from new acquaintances that do not share in my faith of Christianity can cause me to lose my way unless I have a firm footing and my faith in Christ is strong. I must learn how to influence by my example and speech. I must not be the one who is led away from God and back into the world. This is where having a fellowship of brothers,sister and being held accountable is so important. I must remain sensitive to the promptings of the Holy Spirit , reading God’s Word and seeking Him thru prayer. I must live my life as a Christian with discipline and know that perfection will never be complete. I must return to God every time I slip away by sin of thought or action. I must not linger in the lifestyle of the world that draws me into the sinful desires of the flesh.Every thought should be held captive and I should stay open to God and trustworthy Christians with my confessions and repentance of my sins and constantly becoming renewed by God’s cleansing Spirit.
