Sinful pleasures are the one thing that can lead me as far away from God, the wrong pleasure can make me grow cold to His peace , love and promptings.The subtle lure of a temporary temptation by thought or the Devil himself can lead to actions and before I know it, my justified actions have turned into a lifetime of habitual sin. This sin is not only affecting me but those around me.I have noticed in my own life that finding pleasure in this life from sin eventually ends in destruction and finding pleasure in God and His will is a true pleasure that is warm to my spirit and this is a lasting peace and pleasure while the sinful pleasures are just a cheap temporary substitute. I must say these temptations can be quite alluring and as I move away from God that intensity of allure grows . This life is full of all varieties of pleasures from seeking an immersion into the environment from mountain tops to ocean fronts, to almost an earthy worship and enjoying the pleasures of the picturesque scenes of this Earth. There is the pleasures of personal wealth and career filled with the lure of more power over others, to finally arrive after conquering the corporate ladder. The most powerful lure is that of the sexual realm, We are introduced to it everyday from advertisements meant to capture our attentions by fixating our attention on that of the opposite sex and creating up thoughts of fantasies imagined. These moments seem insignificant, since we are surrounded by them everyday but as with any sin, they tend to grow and demand more attention and fantasy grows into a real manifestation. We read all the time of marriages ending in divorce due infidelity, this sin would have started as just a fleeting thought and grew to give birth to a sin that would eventually betray a holy matrimony and oaths given before God. So how do so many fall victim to this trap of sinful sexual pleasure? Everyone needs to be wanted and loved and as marriages go on, they need to not grow cold and distant, We should find our sexual pleasure within the boundaries of the Holy Covenant of Marriage that God the creator of everything ordained and not outside of it in an affair whether it be physical, emotional or fantasized. Our society seems to embrace a “me culture” and has moved away from God being the head of the home and then the man. Man has moved away from submitting to God and the Woman has become independent of the Man. They have become co-habitats in a house, that now sometimes, requires both to provide income for. The television we watch are filled with betrayal, adultery and sexuality. The internet has become a secret outlet for human sexual perversions and many men have fallen victim to its enticing immediate gratifications that offers an imitation meant to be something sacred , pure and intimate to shared with only ones spouse. Satan would like nothing more than to destroy a Christian Home and tear apart what a Christian Husband and Wife could do for His Kingdom. Isolation breeds desolation, Soldiers for Christ need each other,and Sin must not be allowed to fester as an infection that will eventually spread to the soul. By confession thru prayers and those deemed trustworthy we can get off the wrong path and return to God.
Time away from God and time in the World absent of Him will be one fraught with Sin and Despair, but time spent with God is a life filled with a pure joy and lasting pleasure. A joy like this spent in a loving marriage is truly a blessing meant from God.
